Mechanical Frontal Tape

Mechanical Frontal Tape is the hook component of a hook-and-loop diaper closure system. Applied to the diaper’s side panels, these micro-hook strips engage with the front waist patch (loop landing zone) to secure the diaper. The mechanical fastening provides secure, refastenable closure without the adhesive degradation issues of traditional tape systems.

Micro-Hook Fastening Technology

Mechanical frontal tape uses injection-molded or extruded polypropylene hooks — typically 200-400 hooks per square centimeter — that mechanically interlock with the fibers of the loop landing zone. Unlike pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes that can lose tack from lotion, powder, or humidity, mechanical hooks maintain consistent holding strength regardless of environmental conditions. They also provide truly silent release (no adhesive tearing sound), a key selling point for premium diaper brands.
