They serve as the peel-away protective layer covering the adhesive strips on the backside of the pad and the wing papers, ensuring the adhesive remains clean and tacky until the product is used.

The silicone coating must provide consistent, controlled release force — too strong and the user struggles to peel it; too weak and it detaches prematurely during packaging and transport.
